The Sycamore 2021-22
Digital layout, 2021-22
Challenge: Following existing style guidelines, create a series of distinct yet interrelated spreads for the Sycamore yearbook. Place images and text in these templates to tell a story and create a beautiful, cohesive design.
Solution: I achieved a light, airy look by keeping the bottom margin clear and placing the most visually heavy elements at the top. Each section of the book has a different layout, and is ornamented by accent blocks and lines.
The process
My invaluable reference page. It contains design notes and measurement standards for the whole book.
Paper thumbnails (thank you, grid notebook!). I wanted the athletics section to be dynamic, so I experimented with diagonals and stripes.

The final design used for spreads in the Athletics section.
The design for blurb-length spreads in the State Life section.
A twist on the Academics spread layout. A couple of pages use a dark color palette when thematically appropriate.
A special design used for a photo-centric spread.
